Friends

Friends make the world more beautiful
They share their point of view
~And help us to see things in a way
That’s wonderful and new

Friends make the world more beautiful
In countless different ways
~Making good things better
And enriching all our days

It may seem we take for granted
As the days go past
~The good and faithful friendships
That we’re counting on to last

But there’s a special language
Understood by you and me
~In which our words of gratitude
Are spoken silently

And though your heart already knows
Sometimes I’d like to say
~You’ve made my world more beautiful,
I’m glad you came my way.

To Be In The World That You See

I want to amaze you
for the rest of your life.
And be the one
who gives you butterflies inside.

To put light in your eyes
And stars in your skies
All I want to be
Is the world that you see

I’ll try to take life’s pains
throw away all the ache.
Dry up sorrowful tears
that we sometimes tend to make.

To put fire in your soul
And make your heart whole
All I want to be
Is your world that you see

Can I be eternity
in your sweetened presence?
Forever basking in the glow
of your beautiful essence?

To free a wild horse
Never with remorse
Just to want to be
In the world that you see

Heaven

If heaven were a beach,
It’d have the bluest skies
Clearest water, smoothest sand.

If heaven were a prairie,
It’d have the sweetest grass,
Most golden wheat, softest land.

If heaven were a parade,
It’d have the most beautiful horses,
Funniest clowns, the biggest floats.

If heaven were a river,
It’d have the coolest waters,
Longest waterfalls, laziest boats

If heaven were a mall,
It’d have the newest styles,
Cheapest sales, the right size shoe.

But if heaven were my love
It’d be all about you!

Untitled

To try to find the perfect words
would be a waste of time.
These precious words of mine.
I could never find.

Even if I tried to speak
those words would slip away.
Aspirations for another day.
That I may never say.

Your unperfect, perfectness
drives away my sanity.
The things that I could be.
If you were here with me.

Can Never Take

Love is a game
That you someday may win
Hate is just another word
Used by people who sin
Sadness overcomes us
One way or another
Joy has become a name
For somebodies mother
Happiness comes and goes
With the promises we make
But HOPE is the beacons light
That no one can ever take

Precious Lessons

She cried out for help
Lonely and scared
After she fell down
Doing what she dared

When we came to rescue
Tears washed her face
Filling up the lines of age
Wishing to be in another place

She said there was no pain
She was afraid there'd be no one
Just like in her sleepless dreams
That still are never done

Slowly she got up again
And continued on to bed
Knowing that she'll think tonight
Wishing she were dead

I know someday she'll be gone
Maybe sooner than the later
Life was so unfair to her
But she knows some things still matter

She knows that life is precious
And loves her grand kids so
She knows that life is miserable
Oh, the things she knows!

She tells me I'm still young
Don't let anything get in my way
Time, money, or even men
These things she doesn't say

I learned them from her eyes
The things that need to be learned
And in all the things that she does
She shows that life is to be earned.

Greet Each Day With Gladness

The day may not be perfect
The sky may not be blue
But god will walk beside you
And help you see it through

Don't worry about tomorrow
Just do your best today
For sunshine follows sorry
As blue skies follow gray

Greet each day with gladness
As if it were a friend
There may be a blessing waiting
Somewhere around the bend.

Senior Year

All I need to know in life, I learned my senior year.
Every day that I went through, minimized both doubt and fear
I learned to blow things up in first period, Chemistry
In my U.S. Government class, I found congress to be a conspiracy
In English, I exercised all 8 parts of speech
I kind of liked that teacher, the weird one, Mr. Veatch
Fourth period taught me how to get my beauty rest
And my Math teacher said I was there just to be a pest
Ceramics taught me patience, we were always running around
Then my high school days were over, and all the things I found
Last I remember it’s my graduation the speaker got hit with a loafer
Learn what you can
You’ll need it
Before you know it, it’s over.

Theory (By Dorothy Parker)

Every so often I come across a chunk of words that just nails it. This poem, I believe, is something that we ALL feel at some point; some more than others... Enjoy!

Into love and out again
Thus I went and thus I go
Spare your voice and hold your pen
Well and bitterly I know

All the songs were every sung
And all the words were ever said
Could it be when I was young
Someone dropped me on my head?

For Nikki

For every torment you have given
And all the anger that has risen
All the black eyes and missing hair
For the times that just weren't fair
The broken hearts and short winded calls
The slandering words and long hard falls
But of all the times we've fought in the dirt
In remembrance of all the hurt
Two good memories for every one of those
Is what this heart reflects and shows
A shoulder to cry on and all the caught tears
The way we've taken each others fears
Our unstoppable laughter of pots on your head
How hard it would be to go on if the other were dead
Sharing hobbies and the depths of our heart
Reading each others minds though miles apart
From your favorite food to your wishing star
But I'm just beginning to know who you are
We still have much of our lives to live
And many more memories to give
Now your 18 I have now words to say
You already know I'm here for you every day
The only thing left is; as the days go past
Your friendship and love is what I'm counting on to last
