Theory (By Dorothy Parker)

Every so often I come across a chunk of words that just nails it. This poem, I believe, is something that we ALL feel at some point; some more than others... Enjoy!

Into love and out again
Thus I went and thus I go
Spare your voice and hold your pen
Well and bitterly I know

All the songs were every sung
And all the words were ever said
Could it be when I was young
Someone dropped me on my head?

For Nikki

For every torment you have given
And all the anger that has risen
All the black eyes and missing hair
For the times that just weren't fair
The broken hearts and short winded calls
The slandering words and long hard falls
But of all the times we've fought in the dirt
In remembrance of all the hurt
Two good memories for every one of those
Is what this heart reflects and shows
A shoulder to cry on and all the caught tears
The way we've taken each others fears
Our unstoppable laughter of pots on your head
How hard it would be to go on if the other were dead
Sharing hobbies and the depths of our heart
Reading each others minds though miles apart
From your favorite food to your wishing star
But I'm just beginning to know who you are
We still have much of our lives to live
And many more memories to give
Now your 18 I have now words to say
You already know I'm here for you every day
The only thing left is; as the days go past
Your friendship and love is what I'm counting on to last

I Heard It

I heard it~
Covered well by surprise
Discovered by passion
Faint and unmistakable
So far away but still too close
Soft yet harsh
Blanketed with fear
Unleashed by pain
But I heard it.
Fallen leaves under foot
A branch in the midst of a storm
Smoke of a watered fire
A dream made of glass hit the hard cold floor
And I heard your heart break.

I've Waited For This

As we talk you just hold me tight
Laughing and kissing all through the night
Holding this moment with all of my might
Everything about you feels so right

It took so long but it goes so fast
Pulling out everything but forgetting the past
Here I am looking for love that'll last
Going in places only Angels are cast

When I close my eyes all you're all I see
Stealing my heart and the breath outta me
Can I show you everything I can be
I realized just now, you've set me free

Never have I felt anything close to this
Such fire and grace in a simple kiss
With all that you've given, there's not a moment I'd miss
Someone heard and granted my wish

I could settle for anyone but I've waited for you
And I'll do anything for you to feel this way too
Like going insane with anything that you do
Everything now in a more beautiful view

I always knew you were out there somewhere
For me to love and hold and take care
This feeling tries deep for us to share
I've waited for this,
and I can't believe you're finally here

Acquired Friends

How did I acquire such a great group of friends?
That would stand with me
Where ever my shaky road bends
They'd lift me up to reach
The biggest, brightest star
And that's not even half as far
Who would comfort me with raunchy humor
Just to dry some tears
And share with me a stressful day
And grab away my fears
For a juicy bit of gossip
Or help with a new fling
Never do I worry who's the better thing
I must have done something
In whom God I did please
For Him to give me such great friends,
As I do acquire in these!

The Wonder Of It All

Pink elephants, blue moon,
ridding zebras bareback,
Flying fish and talking bears
But nothing quite compares

A full eclipse, a starlit sky,
sweet silence of a comet,
Warm and golden rays of sun
But nothings quite as fun

Twisting tornadoes, flashing floods,
all of natures phenomenons,
Blasting blizzards of chalk white snow
And they don't even know

Unchanging seasons of different days,
beauty and exuberant grace,
Golden summers and bronzy fall
But I'm still reminiscing
the wonder of it all

Seaside Dreams

The ocean spread forever, 'til the sky and it had met
I walked along the shore and got my feet a little wet

Alone I walk in silence and love the beauty of this place
But even more I love, the smile on your face

My eyes close slowly as the breeze gently whisks my cheeks
The love I feel for you so long surpasses this years weeks

The way you say hello, the way you say my name
The first time I looked into your eyes, I'd never be the same

How I make a point to look into your eyes so deep
That I'm so wrapped with you, I see you in my sleep

As I watch the sun fade, my lips curl in a grin
Thinking that someday, your love I just might win

My love for you is growing big, or maybe so it seems
But soon this love will be, more than something in my dreams.

Contents of this blog; Reasons of this blog

For quite some time now, I have been receiving requests to make my poetry public. Though, at first I was quite apprehensive, I now feel that it is alright to share my private thoughts. I realize that they are just another way that I express myself (as if my big mouth didn't do the trick), and all the praise that I get when one reads them, is finally enough to persuade me to put them out there.

Personally, I believe my poetry is just 'wanna be' Hallmark trash, but you, as a reader, may think otherwise. All I can say is have fun and enjoy! Plagiarism is out of my control, so please, make these words count. If you do in fact feel the need to steal, then please, please, please, do so in a manner that will charm another, if not yourself.

Thanks for reading, and ENJOY!!!
